This highly collectible vintage two-piece majolica-style ceramic pie keeper was produced in Portugal by Sanor Ceramica. Famously designed to mimic a freshly baked lattice-top fruit pie, this specific variation features an exceptionally detailed cover decorated with glossy, deep-blue molded blueberries popping out from a golden pastry weave. A dimensional cluster of green leaves and a central blueberry acts as a stylized handle. The coordinating deep pie dish base has a beautiful warm caramel-tan speckled glaze and a wavy scalloped rim.
The underside of the base retains its original stamped black factory mark. The set presents beautifully as an authentic farmhouse kitchen centerpiece, exhibiting honest, clear age crazing across portions of the tan crust strips and green handle leaves. These lines are typical for vintage Portuguese earthenware glaze and add to its retro cottagecore character without compromising the structural integrity of the piece.
Condition Summary
• Good vintage condition with excellent structural display value and a completely clean interior basin.
• Surface crazing lines present on the lid, running across sections of the tan lattice pastry crust and the green decorative leaves; a couple of these fine age lines can be slightly felt with a fingernail, but they remain tight and stable beneath the glossy interior base showing a smooth caramel-tan glaze completely free of any utensil scores, cracks, or backstamp on the unglazed base ring reading "SANOR CERAMICA - Made in Portugal".
