A charming mid-century tomato-ware set by Maruhon Ware, hand painted in Japan, about 1950s. The teapot carries the circled-K Maruhon mark. Every piece is molded as a ripe tomato with leafy green handles, spouts and finials.
Includes 6 pieces: tomato teapot with stem lid (about 9.5 in. from spout to handle), creamer, open sugar bowl, mustard or condiment pot with lid and its original leaf-shaped ceramic spoon, and salt and pepper shakers on leaf bases.
Condition: used, with honest vintage wear, so please see all photos. There is typical red paint loss on the raised ribs under the teapot and creamer, a small chip on the creamer body, staining inside the teapot, and crazing inside the sugar and mustard pot. The sugar bowl has no lid. Shaker stoppers are missing or replaced. No breaks to handles or spouts.
A cheerful piece of retro kitchen décor. These sets rarely turn up this complete, especially with the mustard spoon. Every piece is individually wrapped and double-boxed.
