Lovely Vintage TREE OF LIFE CARVING From Africa Makonde Tribe

Exquisite quality, carved from one solid piece of wood

This gorgeous sculpture is carved with wonderful and very lifelike skill, and portrays 6 human figures who are all being supportedand \'held up\' by each other as they climb upwards. Beautifully symbolizes the importance of family and community in Life.
All have fantastic expressions and carefully detailed clothes.
The figures at the base of the sculpture are representative of ancestors \'holding up\' and helping the newer generation succeed in life
This sculpture is museum quality- every inch has carving on it, and the toolmarks arevery beautiful and varied.
Excellent detail to hair and shape of limbs, fingers, etc.
The top of the piece is covered with small carved tool marks in a tribal pattern
No chips, no nicks, no cracks, no repairs. Color ofwood varies from very dark brown to a light caramel color, these are normal/natural variations in the wood which add to the uniqueness. Has a very nice sheen and is smooth and glossy.
This is a piece that will look stunning on displayand would make a beautiful addition to any Art collection.
