For sale is a vintage, highly preserved Keuffel & Esser (K&E) Log Log Decitrig slide rule, model 4181-1, made in the USA. This is an excellent example for a collector, student, or engineering history enthusiast.
This rule is in superb overall aesthetic condition. The ivory-colored facing of the rule remains exceptionally bright and clean, with minimal yellowing and no cracks or deep gouges. The red and black scale markings are crisp, clear, and easy to read (see photos 1 and 2).
The original glass cursor is intact, clear, and free of any visible cracks or chips (see detailed view in photo 3).
The metal end pieces show very light, age-appropriate surface oxidation and tarnish, typical for an item this age (photo 3). The rule functions smoothly, and the screws are secure.
Included is the original dark green/black leather case with the K&E logo clearly embossed (photo 1). The case is in solid condition with a working belt clip, showing only light cosmetic wear and small typical separation to the top flap corners (view photo 1).
This slide rule came from a well-kept collection and has been in a smoke-free and climate-controlled environment.
