Vtg 1970s CB Radio QSL Swap Card Lot 249pc Archive w/ Record Log Book & Letters:
$165.99

  • Up for sale is a fantastic, authentic time capsule of 1970s Citizens Band radio culture. This massive, cohesive single-family archive contains a total of 249 items, offering a beautifully preserved look into the height of the \'70s CB radio craze.

  • This collection comes directly from the estate of my parents. My father was a cross-country truck driver, and my mother used to travel the highways with him in his rigs. Together, they immersed themselves in the CB subculture. The cornerstone of this lot is my mother\'s original handwritten record logbook from the 1970s. While the book isn\'t completely filled to the last page, it features a ton of handwritten entries she logged detailing their over-the-air contacts, handles, dates, frequencies, and locations across North America.

  • To give you an idea of the fierce, independent spirit behind this collection, my mom was quite a character—a total hoot. On the airwaves, she originally started out with the CB handle \"Dirty Sally\" (so you will spot that name on some of the pieces in this lot), before it eventually got shortened down to just \"Sally\" (including cards printing her call sign as \"FCC Fugitive No. 6\"). My dad ran the highways under the handle \"Lucky 13\", and when I was growing up in the middle of it all, my personal handle was \"Little Black Kitten\". My mom was a woman of many talents: she raced Corvettes and even won trophies from drag racing, was a crazy mad fisherwoman, and had a green thumb like you wouldn\'t believe—her yard was so beautiful that people used to drive by our house just to stop and take pictures of it.

  • She was fiercely protective, too. Around 1975, when my parents had just divorced, she spent what little money she had on a huge pumpkin for us to carve for Halloween. While my older brother took me trick-or-treating, two teenage boys came to our porch and actually stole the pumpkin. My mom caught them in the act and fired a warning shot from her gun straight into the air. It scared them so badly that they dropped the pumpkin, breaking it completely. When we got home, we found my mom holding the two thieves at gunpoint right there on the front porch, making them sit there until they looked me in the eye and apologized for ruining my pumpkin. Her point was definitely made—the very next day, those same kids tracked down my brother at school and handed him a check to pay for it! That protective, no-nonsense spirit completely encompasses my mother, and I miss her a lot. This lot represents the true rebel energy of our family and the \'70s CB culture.

  • Beyond traveling for my dad\'s trucking routes, we also used to take our family vacations and head out to CB jamborees together. I haven\'t been able to locate our old photos from those specific jamborees yet, but if I manage to track them down while the sale is live, I will absolutely update the gallery to add them in.

  • Condition Notes: The vast majority of the cards are in excellent vintage condition. There are very few cards with noticeable damage—maybe 10 total—and even those aren\'t too bad. I have included clear, up-close pictures of those specific damaged cards so you can see exactly what to expect.

  • What is included in this 249-piece sale lot:

  • Vintage 1970s CB QSL Swap Cards: A large, diverse assortment featuring classic period graphics, humor, and unique handles.

  • The Original Handwritten Record Logbook: Loaded with matching real-life radio contacts made during their highway travels.

  • The Original Vintage Index Card Box: The exact green-lined storage box my mother used to organize and protect these cards for decades.

  • Personal CB Letters: A collection of authentic letters and mailers sent to her by other operators and radio friends she met along the airwaves.

  • The collection features cards representing a massive geographical spread. buyers will find operators from the following areas:

  • PLEASE NOTE (PROVENANCE PHOTOS): I have included historical family photos in the listing gallery showing my mom at her radio base station at home, as well as pictures of her and my dad inside their semi-trucks. I wanted to share these so you can see the absolute legends these items came from! These original photographs are for provenance and authenticity verification purposes only; they are NOT included in the sale and will remain with our family.

  • This is an incredibly rare opportunity to own a completely cohesive, fully documented, and anchored piece of American trucking and radio history. Items will be packed with utmost care and shipped promptly with tracking. Please view all photos for condition details, and feel free to reach out with any questions. Happy offerding!
