SEE VIDEO Vintage 1950s Nomura (T.N.) & Nikko Kogyo Tin Lithographed Wind-Up Santa Claus
Up for sale/sale is a highly collectible, authentic mid-century mechanical tin toy featuring Santa Claus ringing a bell and holding a "Merry Christmas" sign. This piece is a wonderful example of post-war Japanese toy engineering, featuring a dual-manufacturer collaboration.
Key Features & Maker Marks:
• Dual Trademark Authenticity: The lower back features both the iconic Nomura "T.N. in a diamond" exporter logo and the Nikko Kogyo "N.K. in a circle" manufacturer stamp, alongside the original "Made in Japan" litho text.
• Mechanical Condition: Tested and in working condition. When wound, the internal mechanism functions, causing Santa to rock/sway, move his head, and shake his right arm to ring the bell.
• Dimensions: Body stands approximately 6.75 inches tall; measures roughly 8.5 inches total to the top of the "Merry Christmas" sign.
Cosmetic Condition:
This toy is in honest vintage condition with excellent character. It shows typical cosmetic wear consistent with a 70-year-old toy, including minor paint scuffs, light surface scratches, and a natural aged patina/light oxidation on the bell and metal winding key. The lithographed colors remain distinct and display wonderfully. Please review the high-resolution photos carefully to assess the exact cosmetic condition before purchasing.
No original box included. Comes from a smoke-free environment. Will be packed with extreme care using plenty of bubble wrap to protect the delicate wind-up arms during transit.
