Up for sale is a rare, localized historical archive from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company’s historic manufacturing facility once located in Windsor, Vermont.
Unlike standard tire production sites, the Windsor facility specialized for decades in creating high-quality rubber soles and shoe heels. This collection tells the complete story of the plant's unique manufacturing history.
THIS SINGLE-LOT ARCHIVE INCLUDES:
1. ANTIQUE INDUSTRIAL SHOE HEEL DIE STAMP: A heavy metal casting mold stamp featuring an intricate, crisp profile of a Native American Indian Chief.
This tool was used directly on the factory floor to stamp or emboss the design into rubber shoe heels before vulcanization.
Measures approximately 1.5x1.5x1.5 inches. Includes the original handwritten collector/archive tag establishing its exact factory provenance.
A cast-metal (zinc/copper electrotype) letterpress or embossing block used at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. Shoe Products Division plant in Windsor, Vermont. That plant operated from 1936 to 1986 and manufactured rubber shoe soles, heels, and soling sheets (EPA Brownfields, US Tariff Commission, 1971). So this block was almost certainly a branding/embossing die used to stamp a logo or product mark onto rubber heels, soles, or packaging at the Windsor plant — a piece of Vermont industrial history, not just a generic decorative cut.
2. VINTAGE AERIAL PHOTOGRAPH: A clear, historical bird’s-eye color photograph capturing the sprawling Goodyear facility situated along the Connecticut River in Windsor, VT. The Photo back is stamped Processed by Kodak MAR 1987 D and it also says, this paper MANUFACTURED by KODAK
3. VINTAGE GOODYEAR PATCH: An authentic embroidered uniform patch featuring the iconic Goodyear signature font. This was with the photo that I acquired from a man that had worked at the factory.
CONDITION:
All items are in good vintage/used condition with minor wear consistent with age and industrial heritage. The metal die stamp retains sharp details on the design face and exhibits a beautiful natural patina. The photo has a corner fold.
