According to the original box label, the set contains:
3 Wood Carving Tools
1 Wood Carving Knife
1 Sharpening Stone
All of those components appear to be present.
The three short carving tools have substantial rounded wooden palm-style handles and different cutting profiles, including straight and curved/gouge-style blades. Several of the steel shafts are visibly markedDIXON USA. The longer carving knife has a natural wood handle and curved cutting blade. A rectangular sharpening/honing stone is also included.
The longest tools measure approximately5–6 inches, as shown alongside the ruler.
A nice surviving vintage woodworking set with particularly desirable original packaging and manufacturer identification. Suitable for a vintage tool collection, woodworking display, or restoration/use by a woodcarver.
Dating
I would describe this ascirca 1940srather than assigning an exact year. The Newark address and postal-zone format are consistent with the mid-20th-century period, and William Dixon material from both 1940 and 1949 using the Newark identity survives.
