Up for sale is an exceptional example of a late 1940s Waterman’s Taperite Citation fountain pen, proudly manufactured at the historic Waterman plant in Montreal, Canada.
Features the original 14k gold semi-hooded Taperite nib. Unlike its rigid American counterparts, this Canadian nib boasts incredible flexibility! It glides smoothly, laying down a crisp Fine line under zero pressure and swelling easily to a rich Broad line with light downstrokes. (See photos for the exact writing sample).
Classic deep black polished body paired with the Citation's signature 1-inch wide, heavily ribbed rolled-gold cap band. The gold plating is bright and lustrous with no brassing.
The barrel has light to moderate scratching. The section has some scratches. There are no cracks, chips, dings, or plating wear. It features a crisp, deep, completely legible factory imprint: "Waterman's - MADE IN CANADA".
The lever-filling mechanism is fully operational. The internal ink sac has been checked and replaced. takes a full load of ink, and holds pressure perfectly. Ready to write out of the box!
Included is a faux-leather clamshell display case with gold-rimmed detailing and a plush interior insert. The box mechanism snaps shut securely and provides a beautiful presentation for display.
