Vintage WORKSHOPS Multi-Arm Helping Hands Magnifier / Precision Work Holder
Offered is a vintage WORKSHOPS branded precision work-holding tool featuring a heavy cast-metal base, large glass magnifying lens and multiple fully adjustable articulated holders.
Unlike the simple two-arm helping-hands tools commonly sold today, this older WORKSHOPS example has an unusually elaborate arrangement of multiple adjustable joints, thumb screws and alligator-style clips, allowing a small workpiece to be positioned at numerous angles.
The large magnifying lens is also independently adjustable. The magnifier has been tested and functions properly — one photograph shows a U.S. quarter held in the clip and viewed through the lens to demonstrate its magnification.
Tools of this general type are intended to free both hands while performing detailed work and are useful for fly tying, soldering/electronics work, jewelry making and repair, watch/clock work, model building, crafting and other precision bench work. Modern helping-hand tools continue to use the same basic combination of adjustable clips, magnification and a weighted base.
The heavy textured base is prominently cast “WORKSHOPS.”
Condition: Good vintage used condition with authentic age and workshop wear. Metal components exhibit areas of oxidation, patina, scratches and discoloration consistent with previous use and age. The magnifying lens has visible age-related surface spotting/haze and wear, which has been photographed closely. Despite this, the lens remains functional and provides clear magnification, as demonstrated in the quarter photograph.
Adjustment hardware, clips and articulated components appear intact as photographed. Please examine the detailed photographs, which form an important part of the condition description.
