Vintage TAVERN novelty figural candles — a complete Thanksgiving group of 5, made by Socony-Vacuum Oil Co., Inc. (the company that became Mobil) in the U.S.A., circa 1940s. Each candle still has its original "A TAVERN CANDLE" paper label on the base, and the turkey even keeps its old 13¢ store price sticker.
WHAT'S INCLUDED (5 candles)
• Pilgrim man with rifle and buckled hat
• Pilgrim woman in blue dress and white apron
• Pilgrim boy in pointed hat
• Pilgrim girl in gray dress
• Thanksgiving turkey
CONDITION
• All five are UNLIT / unburned — wicks intact, never used as candles
• Honest vintage condition: some paint rubs and light scuffs from age and storage (see the turkey's tail and the figures' bases in photos), light dust in crevices
• As the maker's own label notes, these novelty candles are irregular in shape by design
• Please study all photos — they are part of the description
SIZE
• Tallest figure (pilgrim man) approx. 3.5 inches
These early Socony-Vacuum Tavern candles are much harder to find than the later Gurley versions. Perfect for a vintage Thanksgiving table or a figural candle collection.
Each candle will be wrapped individually and packed with care. Smoke-free home. Thank you for looking!
All from local abandon self storage sale. Thanks.
