The tall openwork design features a richly textured Jerusalem cityscape with stone arches, domed buildings and a palm tree, accented by colorful jewel-tone glass cabochons. Two fluted candle cups extend from either side on textured platforms.
Integrated into the lower architectural relief is the Hebrew שבת קדש — Shabbat Kodesh, meaning “Holy Sabbath,” identifying the piece with the traditional lighting of Shabbat candles on Friday evening.

TAMAR was an Israeli decorative metalwork maker known for distinctive brass Judaica and Holy Land souvenir pieces during the mid-20th century. Based on its style and marking, this example is believed to date to approximately the 1950s–1960s.
A particularly elaborate TAMAR design with wonderful sculptural presence—beautiful for a Judaica collection, Mid-Century Israeli art collection, or as a distinctive Shabbat display piece.
