Vintage SylvaC Art Deco Dancing Lady Ceramic Table Lamp – Model 920 – Made in England
A beautiful and distinctive vintage Art Deco table lamp featuring a hand-painted ceramic dancing lady, believed to be by British pottery manufacturer SylvaC (Shaw & Copestake), dating to approximately the 1930s–1940s.
The elegant female figure is depicted holding out her flowing skirt in a theatrical dancing pose. She wears a richly textured deep cobalt blue bodice, with a sweeping turquoise and burgundy skirt and striking orange-red waved hair.
The ceramic figure bears impressed Made in England markings and mould number 920, consistent with documented SylvaC dancing lady figures.
Mounted on a black wooden plinth with rounded feet, the figure stands in front of a gracefully curved metal lamp support, complete with an older bayonet bulb holder.
Condition
Vintage condition with age-related wear, including small areas of paint loss and rubbing to the ceramic decoration, surface marks to the wooden base and patination to the metal lamp support and bulb holder.
The ceramic figure appears free from obvious major chips or cracks in the photographs.
The lamp has been photographed illuminated and was working when tested. However, it retains older electrical fittings and wiring and has not been independently electrically safety tested. It should be inspected by a qualified electrician before further use.
Please examine all photographs carefully, as these form part of the description.
Please note: The SylvaC attribution relates to the ceramic figure. The original manufacturer and assembly date of the complete lamp have not been independently established.
