Unusual vintage Stieff Pewter Washington Camp Cup, pattern P100-16, produced in association with the Valley Forge Historical Society and distinguished by a three-dimensional applied jockey/equestrian figure.
The underside is clearly and permanently marked:
VALLEY FORGE HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Washington Camp Cup
STIEFF PEWTER
P100-16
These markings provide firm identification of the vessel as Stieff’s P100-16 Washington Camp Cup, part of the company’s historically inspired pewter production associated with the Valley Forge Historical Society.
Of particular collector interest is the applied dimensional jockey/rider figure. Standard documented P100-16 Washington Camp Cups are normally encountered without this decoration, making this example an especially interesting variation. The jockey is depicted in traditional riding attire with helmet and boots and projects prominently from the body of the cup.
The cup retains extensive naturally developed surface character, including darkened pewter, oxidation, mottling, spotting, scratches and areas of finish variation. It has not been polished to a bright finish, preserving the aged appearance visible in the photographs.
A compelling piece for an advanced collection of Stieff pewter, Valley Forge Historical Society material, American historical reproductions, equestrian memorabilia, horse-racing collectibles or vintage sporting trophies.
