Unique in subject and details and of a higher quality construction than many such figures of the period, this putz Santa is riding on the back of a goose.
The goose has feathers and eyes that appear to be made of glass. Santa’s red cape and hood and black boots are flecked with mica ‘snow’ as are the goose’s wonderful orange feet.
Though not marked with country of origin, this figure could likely be German, given the level of quality and the figure of the goose which was a popular element in German decorative items.
It measures about 2.5” high.
The figure is in very good condition. Some glue marks that have darkened with time. A bit of a missing material at tip of beak.
