Traveling Man Treasures is selling this vintage speckled granite bust of the ancient Egyptian cat goddess Bastet, crafted in Cairo, Egypt, to look like a traditional piece of pharaonic antiquity. The bust is in excellent display condition and weighs a hefty 7lbs!
The Bastet is sculpted from a green granite with cream, red, and black speckles sculpture highlights characteristic Egyptian stylization, including alert, upright ears with internal striated line work and wide, carved eyes; the forehead bears an ornate vulture whose wings expand onto the ears, finished off with a timeless nose and arched whiskers.
Bastet (or Bast) was the ancient Egyptian goddess of protection, home, fertility, and domestic cats.
