Vintage The Simplex Patent Kettle, made in England and constructed of solid copper with a bright chrome-plated exterior.

The underside is stamped “The ‘Simplex’ Patent Kettle,” “Made in England,” and “Guaranteed Solid Copper,” along with Patent Nos. 400709 and 402190 and Registered No. 786743. The spout is additionally marked Patent No. 423201.

This classic British stovetop kettle features a removable lid with what appears to be an integrated whistle, curved pouring spout, raised base, and black turned wooden carrying handle. The solid copper construction is finished with bright silver-tone chrome plating.

Could be for personal use or as a prop for photos, videos, movies.

CONDITION

Pre-owned vintage condition with visible evidence of age and use. The chrome exterior remains bright and highly reflective overall but has scratches, scuffs, spotting, tarnish/discoloration, and other surface wear.

There is some stubborn surface residue/discoloration from previous use that remains after cleaning and did not come off with the cleaning methods attempted.

The black wooden handle has noticeable finish loss, scratches, and wear, including areas where the natural wood is exposed. The interior and underside show age/use-related patina, oxidation, discoloration, staining, and wear.

The spout has two matching symmetrical divots/indentations, one on each side. These appear to be intentional features of the original spout construction rather than accidental dents, but their specific purpose is unknown. Please see close-up photos.

PLEASE NOTE: Based on the sound when the kettle is moved and visual inspection of its construction, there appears to be a copper piece sandwiched between the inner and outer layers in the center of the kettle's bottom. This piece can be heard sliding/clanking when the kettle is tilted or moved back and forth. This does not impact the kettle's performance.
