This is a beautiful vintage mid-century Japanese porcelain tea service set featuring a classic European Victorian \"Courting Couple\" transfer design.
The pieces are beautifully accented with a feathered seafoam green border, elegant gold scrolled handles, and hand-painted gold filigree accents.
Due to the nature of mid-century Japanese export production, this assembled set features complementary pieces from notable workshops of the era, including Saji China, Shinto China, and Tea Trader Imports.
This 11-piece set includes:
- 1 Teapot with lid (Shinto China)
- 4 Footed demitasse / chocolate cups
- 6 Scalloped leaf-shaped saucers (Saji China)
Condition Report:
This set is in good vintage condition with vibrant colors and intact hand-painted gold detailing. Shows some wear to the golding and the transfer images.
There are no chips or cracks on the teapot or saucers. Please note that one of the four cups has a noticeable chip along the upper rim (as shown in the close-up photo).
The remaining three cups are free of chips and cracks. Mild, expected shelf wear on the bottom rims consistent with age.
