Up for sale is a beautiful, highly collectible pair of vintage Rio Hondo California Pottery cat salt and pepper shakers. Produced in El Monte, California, during the late 1940s to early 1950s, these mid-century kitsch figurines feature the classic minimalist stylized look that Rio Hondo is famous for.
They feature adorable hand-painted black eyelashes and delicate, airbrushed pink accents in their ears and on their paws.
Condition Details:
• Stoppers Included: Fantastic vintage condition! Both shakers still retain their original bottom stoppers, which is incredibly rare for pieces of this age.
• Paint & Glaze: The cold-painted facial features are bright, clear, and completely intact. The glossy glaze remains vibrant with minimal wear.
• Flaws: No major cracks or large chips. (Note to Seller: If you notice any light spiderweb-like cracking in the shiny finish, add this line: "Features light, age-appropriate glaze crazing typical of 1940s California pottery.")
Approximate Dimensions:
• Height: ~2.5 inches
