Handcrafted in Brazil during the mid-century Art Deco era, this beautiful dish features a layered design under a protective glass top. The background is composed of genuine, highly iridescent blue morpho butterfly wings that dynamically shift from deep sapphire to electric aqua depending on the light angle. Over laid on the wings is a detailed reverse-painted black silhouette scene capturing Sugarloaf Mountain, local hills, and swaying tropical palm trees. Encased within its original stamped metal frame featuring stylized edge tabs, this stunning specimen serves perfectly as a decorative vanity pin dish, a small cabinet display plate, or a vibrant piece of South American travel history.

Historical Note: The background of this specific artwork dates back to the "Golden Age of Travel" (spanning from the 1920s through the 1950s). During this boom in international tourism, artisan workshops in Rio de Janeiro (most notably the famous Atelier Elisabeth and Machado Galeria) pioneered a complex, mixed-media folk art style. They combined genuine, sustainably-harvested Blue Morpho butterfly wings with precise, hand-applied reverse glass painting to create intensely luminous souvenirs for wealthy foreign travelers visiting landmarks like Sugarloaf Mountain
