Product Description
Bring the transcendental romance and spiritual grace of ancient folklore into your living space with this magnificent vintage framed Indian miniature painting. This exquisite work of art portrays the divine couple, Lord Krishna and Radha, sharing an intimate moment of devotion under a brilliant starry night sky dominated by a full moon.
Every element of this painting is executed with incredible precision—from Krishna's iconic deep blue skin tone and elaborate pearl crown down to the delicate floral patterns embellishing Radha's traditional attire. Housed in an elegant mahogany-toned wooden frame with a classic gold-leaf inner border and a custom beige mat, this piece is fully ready to serve as a stunning focal point on a gallery wall, home altar, or study.
Cultural and Historical Significance
This painting captures the absolute pinnacle of Hindu devotional iconography: the divine love ofRadha and Krishna(Radha-Krishna). Within the Vaishnavism theological tradition, this pairing is not merely human romance but a profound cosmic allegory. Krishna represents the Supreme Soul (Paramatma), while Radha represents the individual human soul (Jivatma) longing for spiritual union with the divine.
The artistic execution of this piece draws heavily from the classical traditions of theKishangarh and Kangra schools of Indian miniature painting, which flourished between the 17th and 19th centuries:
The Sacred Setting:The couple is nestled in a lush, stylized forest reminiscent of Vrindavan or Nidhivan, complete with broad-leaved banana fronds and flowering shrubs, which classical poets historically described as the backdrop for their divine pastimes (Lilas).
The Regalia:Both figures wear traditional courtly attire, marked by multi-layered pearl necklaces (Moti Mala) and fine-line detailing that master artisans historically executed using single-hair brushes.
Framing Provenance:The reverse preserves an authentic vintage Arabic and English merchant stamp from the National Workshop for Glass and Mirrors (G.M.N.F.). This adds a fascinating layer of late 20th-century international trade history, documenting the artwork's journey through premium framing galleries in the Middle East.
