Vintage RPPC Old Cliff House San Francisco DOPS Real Photo Steamer Sutro View For Sale

Vintage RPPC Old Cliff House San Francisco DOPS Real Photo Steamer Sutro View.Postcard DetailsA vintage real photo postcard (RPPC) captioned in the negative \"Old Cliff House S.F.\" — the ornate Victorian Cliff House at San Francisco, California, photographed from above (from the Sutro Heights parapet, whose statues stand in the foreground) with a steamer passing offshore and Seal Rocks in the surf. The building shown is Adolph Sutro\'s castle-like Cliff House of 1896, destroyed by fire in 1907. Please note the card itself is a later printing of that early view: confirmation is the DOPS stamp box on the back (the letters D-O-P-S in the corners of the stamp box, photographic paper of 1925-1942). No publisher or photographer is named on the card. The card was never mailed and the back is blank.Condition NotesSharp and clean, with strong contrast and a dramatic, detailed scene. There is a light bump at the lower-right corner of the front. The back has one small stain at the left edge and a faint short mark at the right center.Shipping and Handling◆ Packaging: Shipped securely in a protective plastic sleeve with card stock support inside a white envelope.
