Striking originalPeugeot roaring lion hood ornament, associated with the classicPeugeot 203 and 403automobiles of the 1950s.
This is the famous three-dimensionalroaring lion-head mascot, featuring an aggressive open mouth and teeth, sculpted facial details, swept-back mane and an exceptionally long streamlined chrome body. It is one of the most recognizable French automotive mascots of the postwar period.
Peugeot introduced the projecting lion-head mascot on the203 in 1948, and the lion mascot was subsequently associated with the403 beginning in 1955. Peugeot states that projecting hood mascots were discontinued inSeptember 1958because of changing safety requirements.
Condition
Very good vintage used condition.
As shown in the photographs, the chrome remainsbright and highly reflective overall. There are normal signs of age and use, including light scratches, scattered pitting, oxidation and other finish imperfections.
The lion\'s face, open mouth, teeth, eye, mane and long streamlined body remain well defined and display beautifully.
