Vintage Polish pijałka, a specialized drinking vessel traditionally used for drinking mineral and therapeutic spring water at European spa resorts.
This approximately 7” tall example is a souvenir from Świeradów-Zdrój, the historic spa town in southwestern Poland. It features an unusual sculptural form with an elongated drinking spout/handle and beautiful cobalt-blue floral decoration over a creamy white glazed ceramic body.
The front is hand-lettered “Świeradów Zdrój.”
Research found very similar examples described in the Polish market as PRL-era Świeradów-Zdrój spring-water drinking vessels with cobalt floral decoration. The pijałka form is associated with the mineral-water drinking tradition for which Świeradów-Zdrój is known.
No manufacturer’s mark was found on the underside, so the maker is unknown.
A fun and unusual piece of Polish spa history—great for collectors of Polish pottery, PRL-era souvenirs, European spa memorabilia, blue-and-white ceramics, or unusual vintage vessels.
Condition: Vintage pre-owned condition with age-related surface wear/crazing visible in areas. Please examine all photos closely as they are part of the condition description.
