A striking large vintage black pottery sculpture depicting Virgen de la Soledad (Our Lady of Solitude), a Marian image closely associated with Oaxaca, Mexico.
The figure is beautifully formed with an impressive wide, triangular mantle richly decorated with raised floral, foliate, and sunburst motifs. The Virgin's face appears beneath an elaborate crown, while the dimensional floral ornament at the front adds wonderful depth and visual interest.
