Up for sale is a stunning piece of vintage Mexican Folk Art (known traditionally as arte plumario), dating back to the mid-20th century. This unique multi-media piece features a brilliantly colored tropical bird perched on a branch, meticulously crafted entirely from real dyed and natural feathers.
The vibrant red, purple, and gray feather details of the bird pop beautifully against a neutral tan cardstock background accented with delicately hand-painted foliage. It comes beautifully presented in a vintage carved wooden frame designed to mimic natural bamboo, complete with its original glass and backing.
Total Frame Height: Approx. 8.5 inches
Total Frame Width: Approx. 6.25 inches
The feather artwork itself is excellently preserved, holding brilliant coloration and wonderful dimensional texture
The vintage distressed white/cream faux bamboo wood frame shows expected light aging, minor finish cracking, and character wear typical for its age.
The backing board is fully intact with its original hanging twine secured by tacks, showing some age-appropriate discoloration as pictured in.
This charming piece is ready to hang and makes a perfect addition to any bohemian, eclectic, Hollywood Regency, or tropical gallery wall!
