Vintage Maude Welch signed Cherokee NC Pottery Indian Brave Head For Sale

Very hard to find Pottery pieces made by Maude Welch (1894-1953) - Cherokee North Carolina. But they are very distinctive when you see the "mottled tan & smoky black" coloring. In 1935, a government report officially named her “the most talented potter on the Reservation”.This is inscribed on the bottom, "Made by Maude Welch Cherokee N.C.". This is not dated.Measures approx. 3 3/4" tall.Good condition with light wear and a couple of chips (nose, bottom edge behind his left braid, bottom of Sculpture).Please read full description, look at all of the photos provided and ask any questions prior to offerding.
