Condition
Pre-owned vintage condition. Lamp has been tested and is working. Shows age-appropriate surface wear, including light scratches, scuffs, patina/tarnish to the metal, and minor imperfections to the tessellated surface. Please review all photos closely as they are part of the condition description. Maitland-Smith label remains attached to the underside. Cord, plug, switch, and other electrical components may have been replaced at some point; their originality is unknown.

Vintage Maitland-Smith 22” Tessellated Shell & Metal Lion Motif Table Lamp
Striking vintage Maitland-Smith decorative table/accent lamp, handmade in the Philippines.
This unusual lamp features a large domed shade constructed with individually fitted reddish-brown tessellated shell-like tiles. The shade is supported by an antiqued metal framework decorated with lion-head mounts and hanging rings, while the supports terminate in detailed paw feet.
The substantial stepped circular base is finished with coordinating tessellated tiles, giving the lamp a dramatic neoclassical/exotic appearance characteristic of Maitland-Smith decorative pieces.
The lamp is particularly impressive when illuminated—the dome glows in rich shades of amber, orange, red and brown.
