Lithuanian Clay Pottery Candle House Lot Christmas Village Tea Light Burner
This listing features a lot of five handcrafted art pottery miniature houses, consisting of one tower and four cottages. Hand made in Lithuania, these collectible pieces double as functional tea light candle holders or incense cone burners, designed so that candlelight glows through the open windows and smoke vents through the chimneys.
The pottery exhibits a distinct folk-art aesthetic, combining textured, unglazed red clay roofs and bases with colorful, hand-painted glazed window facades. Because every house is completely shaped, detailed, and painted by hand, no two items are exactly alike.
Lithuanian artists began crafting this style of whimsical architectures during the 1990s and early 2000s, making these vintage pieces approximately 20 to 30 years old. While the underlying style remains a staple of Baltic ceramic art, these specific hand-molded iterations are discontinued legacy designs. The classic architectural style makes these highly desirable for collectors building cozy Christmas winter villages. When illuminated from within, they provide a warm, festive glow that enhances holiday seasonal decor, although their timeless look allows for versatile, year-round display. The bottom bases are explicitly stamped \"R. SMALINSKAS\", identifying them as authentic works by the recognized Lithuanian folk ceramic artist. The pottery exhibits a distinct aesthetic, combining textured, unglazed red clay roofs and bases with colorful, hand-painted glazed window facades. The base features a safety warning reading \"HOUSE MAY BECOME HOT\" alongside a \"HAND MADE IN LITHUANIA\" hallmark.
The clay used to create these items is similar to that of a clay flower pot. It is brittle and prone to chipping. Some of the pieces do have chips (mostly on the interior supports that hold the top of the house steady and some of the roof edges) consistent with vintage display and use. I only used LED tealights in these. Flame tea lights will make the clay very hot and a potential fire hazard if used indoors or placed on or near flammable items. Please view all photos as they are part of the description.
Froma smoke-free, climate controlled home.
