Up for sale is a fine machinist's drill & wire gauge with decimal equivalents by scarce toolmaker Hyde Park Manufacturing Co. of Hyde Park, Massachusetts. Model No. 72. Covers drill gauges and their decimal equivalents for sizes 1 through 60. It likely dates to before or just after Hyde Park was annexed by the City of Boston in 1912. Great condition. Measurements are roughly 5 3/8" long and 1 1/2" wide.
There is very little historical information out there on this manufacturer, but Hyde Park was heavily industrialized throughout the late 19th - early 20th century. They were likely a small shop that supported the booming local manufacturing and railway industry of the time with their precision machining needs. Picked from an Arlington, MA estate sale, the owner of which once reportedly owned a local construction company. A neat piece of Boston history.
