Vintage Hibbard Spencer Bartlett Co 222 Yellow Celluloid Office Pen Knife For Sale

Vintage 2-blade clerical equal-end office pen knife manufactured circa 1910 to 1930 by Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Company in Chicago, Illinois. This specialized administrative model features an elegant, factory-stamped "OFFICE KNIFE" scroll design complete with crisp ornamental floral line work across the presentation side. The smooth, aged cream-yellow French Ivory celluloid handle scales remain in beautiful structural condition with an intact center pin and original glossy finish. Built with a dual-ended layout, the knife features a master pen utility cutting blade stamped with the model pattern number 222 on the pile side ricasso, alongside a secondary pen blade on the opposing end. The master blade tang is stamped with a highly prominent, multi-line "HIBBARD SPENCER BARTLETT" maker mark. The old carbon steel components exhibit heavy, authentic age-related patina, widespread storage spot oxidation, and light surface sharpening scuffs. Mechanically, the folding assembly remains fully responsive with solid backspring tension, delivering an active mechanical snap as both blades cycle open and closed. The closed frame handle length measures approximately 3.5 inches.
