Vintage Handmade Trading Post Souvenir Doll & Drum Hide Leather Original 50¢ Tag For Sale

Offered together is an unusual vintage handmade souvenir doll and small hide drum, both showing wonderful age, hand construction and character.The approximately 8-inch doll is hand sewn and dressed in soft natural hide/suede with fringe and decorative details. Most interestingly, the original old 50¢ price tag remains stapled to the clothing.The accompanying handmade drum has natural hide heads with rawhide-style lacing and hair-on-hide trim. The natural hide materials appear consistent with deer hide/buckskin; however, the exact animal species has not been independently verified.I purchased the doll in the early 1980s from an elderly woman. At that time she told me that she had obtained it during a childhood trip. I have owned and cared for it ever since. This history is provided as it was related to me and is not independently documented.The exact maker, tribal affiliation and precise date of manufacture are unknown. I am therefore making no claim that either piece was made by a Native American artisan or member of a particular tribe.Both pieces are being sold in their as-found vintage condition. They show age, discoloration, surface wear and other imperfections consistent with old handmade objects. I have intentionally not cleaned, conditioned or restored the hide.Please examine all photographs closely.
