Up for sale is a rare, vintage Hall's Pro-Edge Surgical Black Arkansas Natural Sharpening Stone (12" x 3” x 1") in its original stamped cedar box with the authentic instructional paperwork.
Unlike common white Arkansas stones (which are coarser and used for fast, aggressive metal removal), a Surgical Black stone is composed of ultra-dense, rare novaculite crystal. It acts as an ultra-fine finishing stone (equivalent to 1200+ grit) that doesn't just sharpen—it creates a flawless, glass-smooth mirror polish on an edge.
Massive 12-inch blocks of this flawless black vein material are exceptionally rare to mine without cracks, making this a premium collector's piece.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The stone surface is smooth, clean, and completely free of chips or deep gouges. The original paper insert is intact. Note: As is typical for its age, the tiny rubber feet on the bottom of the wood block are no longer attached, which does not affect its performance or display value.
