This item is an ultra-rare, highly collectible vintage Gucci dual-sided hair comb with a “Blondie” brown suede case. The 1970’s Blondie era is when Gucci first introduced the circular interlocking GG logo emblem, which is displayed on the leather snap lock of this item.
Moreover, the comb itself is highly valued because it was made in Switzerland (as shown in the listing photos.) During this era Switzerland was thee place to outsource comb-making do to their reputation for precision, use of premium materials, and hair-safe manufacturing. Indeed the comb isn’t just plastic — it’s made from cellulose acetate which is a semi-synthetic polymer that’s super durable. To make an item out of this material it must be crafted in layers, which allows the creation of 3D patterns, such as the Tortoiseshell motif on this comb. Lastly, the comb is dual-sided, one side with very fine teeth (closely spaced together) and the other with slightly larger teeth.
This piece has never been used; it was purchased, kept on display for a while, and then put away in storage for a long time. Thus, each the comb and the case are in excellent vintage condition.
