Antique Victorian Gilt Brass Pocket Watch Shaped Powder Compact - Musical Trophy Motif c.1890
Offered is an authentic late Victorian chatelaine powder compact, circa 1880-1900, in the novelty form of a pocket watch. This is NOT a watch - it is a ladies vanity compact worn on a chatelaine chain.
One side features a raised musical trophy with mandolin, French horn, and sheet music surrounded by flowers. Border is trimmed with tiny faux seed pearls and rope twist edging. The reverse has engraved floral ivy and roses on engine-turned ground.

• Material: Gilt brass - gold wash over brass, not solid gold. Glass mirror, faux pearls.
• Size: Measures 1 7/8 inch diameter, 2 1/4 inches tall including crown/bail. About 3/8 inch thick. See tape measure photos.
• Maker: Unmarked, typical of American / French souvenir compacts
Interior: One side original beveled mirror, other side powder well with original retaining wire. No powder puff included.
