The upper portion has a very dark brown to nearly black glossy glaze that transitions into a more matte and textured charcoal-gray surface toward the bottom. Warm reddish-orange clay is visible around the foot and in scattered areas where the surface has worn. Its irregular glaze, substantial wear and utilitarian form give it a strong primitive farmhouse appearance.
