German Shepherd ashtrays, a set of three
Heavy clear glass, cut-corner rectangles with cut rests on the long sides
A frosted intaglio dog engraved into the floor of each
Three matching ashtrays, each cut as a rectangle with the corners taken off, the sides bevelled and polished, the well shallow and flat. Set into the floor of each is a German Shepherd in profile - standing square, ears up, tail low, a few tufts of grass under the feet.
The engraving is cut into the glass from behind and left frosted, so the dog reads white and three-dimensional against whatever the tray is sitting on. The coat is modeled in fine parallel strokes, closer together on the chest and haunch where the fur would be thicker, and the eye, muzzle and the line of the back are all drawn rather than molded.
Heavier than they look for their size. Each one sits in the palm.
No maker\'s mark on any of the three.
SIZE: 3.26\" W x 2.5\" H each
CONDITION: used. Clean bright glass, the engraving crisp and unworn. No chips or cracks; scratches consistent with use and age.
SHIPPING: Ships from New York, each piece wrapped separately and securely packaged.
