Striking pair of vintage brass camel bookends with richly etched floral and geometric decoration, each mounted on a warm-toned semicircular wood base. Most compelling is the surviving handwritten label beneath one base, reading "A pair of Camels / Brass Tea Pot from Mr. Kamal Hamza / Mayor of Dubai 12-79." Kamal Hamza is documented as the long-serving Director General of Dubai Municipality; the label therefore provides unusually specific period attribution, though the gift history itself has not been independently authenticated. A distinctive pair for a library, study, or collection of Middle Eastern decorative arts.
