Vintage Ehrlich Boston \"Algerian Briar\" Estate Smoking Pipe - Classic Pot Shape
Up for sale is a beautiful mid-century estate pipe from the legendary Ehrlich\'s tobacconist of Boston, Massachusetts. Founded in 1868, Ehrlich is famous for its classic American-crafted pipes.
This particular pipe is stamped \"EHRLICH\" on one side of the shank and clearly stamped \"ALGERIAN BRIAR\" on the reverse. Algerian briar is highly sought after by smokers and collectors for its lightweight feel, excellent heat resistance, and notoriously sweet, dry smoke.
Shape & Features:
- Classic \"Pot\" or \"Apple\" bowl shape with a straight shank.
- Push-tenon stem setup designed to accommodate a filter.
- Striking, tight vertical and bird\'s-eye grain patterns across the bowl.
Condition Notes (Selling As-Is / Unrestored Estate Condition):
- The briar bowl has no visible cracks or burnouts. It features a healthy layer of cake inside and some typical rim tar/lava buildup from gentle past use.
- The vulcanite stem is solid with no deep bite marks, but shows normal surface oxidation (yellowish-brown discoloration) consistent with age. This can be easily polished out by a restorer.
- The mortise junction shows minor natural mineral residue/tobacco buildup and is ready for a deep clean.
