Up for sale is a highly collectible, authentic mid-century Crowley's Creamed Cottage Cheese 5 lb metal advertising tin complete with its original matching lid. Produced by Crowley's Milk Co., Inc. out of Binghamton, New York, this item features the much harder-to-find dark royal blue and bright yellow color scheme, a striking alternative to the more common red-striped versions.
The canister features a wonderful mid-century "sparkle" or starburst pattern across the yellow body. It also highlights a unique, era-specific promotional graphic reading: "Send for FREE United Nations Dairy Recipe Book," beautifully anchoring its history to the early 1950s.
Condition Details:
This tin has a fantastic, authentic rustic farmhouse look and is being sold in vintage, as-found condition:
• Lid: The dark blue lithographed lid shows visible wear, including paint scratches, areas of paint loss, and noticeable oxidation (surface rust/patina) primarily along the raised edges, rims, and exposed metal areas.
• Body: The yellow canister base has preserved its vibrant color and text incredibly well. It exhibits minor scuffs, surface scratches, age-related oxidation spots, and some small dings/dents from decades of handling, which add to its unique historical character. The interior and bottom show typical aged metal darkening and oxidation.
