This is a Continental Airlines 9th Issue era rank progression pilot wings set, that defined the carrier’s operations under Frank Lorenzo from 1986 to 1991. Beautifully curated on their original, type-labeled estate collector presentation cards, this matching pairing features the BUA USA-manufactured First Officer wing alongside an unhallmarked wreath-and-star Senior Captain wing. Both insignia boast a brilliant polished gold finish and proudly display the bold, stylized five-stripe globe "Meatball" logo—a historic design that marked the final major era before Continental's legendary 1991 global corporate rebranding. These authentic clutchback wings represent a turbulent yet historic chapter in the skies, when Continental's frontline flight crews commanded a massive, post-deregulation powerhouse fleet of Douglas DC-9s, McDonnell Douglas MD-80s, and Boeing 727, 737, and 747 jetliners. this premium 1980s collection stands as a phenomenal centerpiece for any serious commercial aviation historian.
The wings are in very good condition, but have some surface scratches and the first officer wings have wear to the gold plating. Please see photos for condition.
