A hand-carved Chinese soapstone sculpture depicting a songbird perched among lotus blossoms, buds, and leaves, set on a naturalistic rockwork base with a small carved animal detail to the side. The stone shows lovely natural mottling, soft grays with warm russet-orange running through the petals, a classic look for this style of Chinese decorative carving.
Comes complete with its original fitted presentation box, covered in gold and blue brocade silk with a woven geometric pattern and a paper label bearing Chinese characters and a red seal stamp.
