Beautiful vintage Casa Chavez Mexican sombrero, featuring exceptionally elaborate hand-applied decorative work throughout.
This is a substantial, highly detailed piece with a natural/cream woven body and an incredible combination of colorful threadwork, braided trim, ric-rac, metallic cord, sequins and dimensional floral appliqués. The large brim features radiating stitched designs with pink flowers and green sequin accents, while the crown is surrounded by additional floral, metallic and braided embellishments. Decorative braided cords and tassel-style ends complete the piece.
Casa Chavez sombreros are collectible vintage Mexican hats, and this example is particularly striking due to the amount of decoration covering both the crown and nearly the entire brim.
