Original vintage Boyce Moto-Meter “Standard” radiator cap temperature gauge, an excellent piece of early American automotive history. Before dashboard temperature gauges became standard equipment, Moto-Meters mounted directly to the radiator cap where the driver could monitor engine temperature while driving. This example features the beautiful ornate Boyce Moto-Meter bezel, dual-sided display, visible thermometer tube, and original radiator-cap mounting assembly. The front displays the classic “Standard” Moto-Meter design. The opposite side contains the period temperature markings and operating instructions, including “Danger / Steam,” “Summer,” “Average,” “Cool,” and “Radiator Cover.”CONDITION:Vintage, unrestored condition with attractive age-related patina throughout.Glass and displays present nicely. The radiator-cap assembly and temperature probe are present. There is age, oxidation and deterioration of the old gasket material visible underneath, as would be expected from an item of this age.I have intentionally not polished, restored or refinished the piece in order to preserve its original appearance. Please examine all photographs carefully as they are part of the condition description.I have not installed this on a vehicle or independently verified the accuracy of the temperature gauge, so it is being sold as an antique collectible rather than as a guaranteed functioning automotive instrument.DETAILS:Maker: Boyce Moto-Meter
