Step back to the days when a Gillette counter display sat beside the register at the corner drugstore. This wood-and-glass razor and blade case was made to show off Gillette's lineup behind a hinged glass lid. The round price decals inside the glass (Thin Gillette Blades 10 for 25¢, Blue Blades 10 for 49¢ and a $1.00 Super-Speed Razor Set) make it a charming slice of mid-century shopping. It would look great on a shelf, a workshop counter or a bar top, or in a vintage advertising or shaving collection.
The case has a stained wood frame with finger-jointed corners, a black-painted wood tray divided into five compartments, a burlap-textured back panel, and a hinged glass lid with keyhole hinge brackets. Gillette is lettered in orange on the side rail, and six round Gillette price decals are applied to the inside of the glass. It weighs about 7 lb.
Condition: Used, with honest age wear. The glass has fine scratches and some grime, and there is a small chip at the left edge of the glass. The frame is scuffed and the paper label on the back is torn. The lid, hinge brackets and tray are all present - see photos.
The photos are part of the description. It will be packed with care to protect the glass.
Please note: glass is scratched.
