Beautiful vintage Barker-Ellis silverplate biscuit barrel, made in England and featuring exceptionally detailed floral and scroll decoration throughout.
This substantial covered table piece has a cylindrical body with elaborate engraved/chased-style ornamentation, a coordinating domed hinged lid, contrasting dark finial, and a wide decorative base raised on ornate feet. The decoration continues across the lid and base, giving the piece an especially rich, elegant appearance.
The hinged lid opens to reveal a plain metal interior. A wonderful statement piece for an English-inspired dining room, traditional kitchen, tea table, butler’s pantry, bar area, or collected silver display. Traditionally described as a biscuit barrel, it could also be displayed as a decorative covered container.
