Barclay Rex is one of the old-line American pipe names, with roots in New York City going back to the 19th century. The shop became a fixture of the American pipe trade, selling everything from imported English and French pipes to pieces made or finished specifically for Barclay Rex.
Vintage Barclay Rex pipes can vary quite a bit depending on era and origin. Many were produced by established European makers for the shop, while others were sold under Barclay Rex’s own name. The better examples are usually well-cut briar with classic, conservative shapes—billiards, bulldogs, pots, Canadians and other traditional profiles built for smoking rather than showing off.
There’s some real history behind these pipes. Barclay Rex was operating during the golden age of American pipe smoking and served generations of New York smokers, which gives their older pieces more collector interest than the typical department-store or tobacconist house pipe.
They don’t always bring huge money, but a clean vintage Barclay Rex—especially one with an unusual shape, strong grain, older stamping, or identifiable English manufacture—can be a mighty good sleeper.
American tobacconist history, old-school briar, and usually a whole lot more pipe than the name gets credit for.

I combine shipping on orders over $40 in the continental US, just ask!
Measurements available upon request.
My shipping is a little more than some. I use UPS (unless it's going to a PO Box or non contiguous US) because UPS has a 98% success rate versus USPS at 87.5%. I have a dedicated UPS representative who goes above and beyond in the rare case there is a shipping issue. Three-ish dollars is worth the peace of mind in my opinion.
