Vintage B-D Mfg. Co. 2cc automatic veterinary syringe or vaccinator, manufactured by Becton-Dickinson and believed to date from approximately the 1930s–1950s.This early example is engraved “B-D Mfg. Co.” on one side and “PAT. APPL’D. FOR” on the opposite side. The patent-pending marking indicates that it may be an earlier variation of this reusable syringe design.The chrome-plated instrument features a graduated glass barrel with red markings, spring-loaded plunger, adjustable mechanism, two finger rings, curved palm rest, and multiple fittings. Included are the syringe, pointed attachment, metal vial-support clamp, tubular accessory, original sterilization instruction card, packing tissue, and red cardboard storage box. Everything shown in the photographs is included.This instrument came from the contents of a closed company that manufactured veterinary medicine, giving it appropriate pharmaceutical and veterinary provenance.The syringe is exceptionally clean and bright for its age and may represent unused or very lightly handled old stock; however, its previous use cannot be confirmed. The mechanism has not been tested for operation. The box has staining, edge wear, separation, and other age-related deterioration.
