Vintage Auto-Lite Brass Carbide Miners Cap Lamp Universal Lamp Co Parts Repair For Sale

Vintage Auto-Lite brass caroffere miner\'s cap lamp made by Universal Lamp Co. of Springfield, Illinois, circa 1920s-1940s. The bottom is stamped \'MADE IN U.S.A. / AUTO-LITE / PATENTED / UNIVERSAL LAMP CO.\' (the later patented model). It has the helmet hook, a reflector with a knurled striker knob, the water-drip lever and the hinged water-door lid. Caroffere cap lamps like this lit the way for coal and hard-rock miners before electric cap lamps, and the Auto-Lite is one of the best-known American makes, a great piece for mining, lighting and Americana collectors. Condition: brass patina, scratches and small dings on the base; the reflector is worn and darkened. The striker does NOT spark (it likely needs a new flint), and the lamp has not been test-fired, so it is sold as-is for parts or repair. Please see all photos, including the bottom stamp, which are part of the description.
