Aboriginal Australian artworks created by the Jinang people, an Indigenous language group from the mainland south of Milingimbi [in North Central Arnhem Land] (index:1.2.11, 1.3.5), Northern Territory.
These works feature natural earth ochres and depict sacred ancestral themes, totemic animals, and mortuary ceremonies [like the Lorrikan ritual]
Crafted on flattened tropical stringybark (Eucalyptus tetrodonta) using traditional red and yellow ochres, white pipeclay or clay, and charcoal black, often applied with fine grass or human-hair brushes (marwat).
